Hello Strictly!

After reading a few articles and papers about sentiment analysis on twitter being used to predict box office revenue, stock markets and the like I thought I’d have a look and see if I could learn how to do it.

Here’s the first results from that fine UK Autumn / Winter tradition, strictly come dancing.  It’s the show that spawned dancing with the stars and a whole host of other clones courtesy of good old Aunty

What the chart above shows is the number of tweets that were either positive or negative about each of the celebrities.  A few stand out – Russell Grant looks already like the, umm, optimistic choice and Lulu clearly didn’t get much love at all.  Likewise, Nancy Dell’Olio and Edwina Currie both struggled to score well.  Jason Dononvan, Harry Judd and Robbie Savage all look like they’ll be around for a while.

Not sure how much insight this brings to the discussion, but I’m interested in what people think?
